Factors associated with Fear of Violent Crime and Property Crime

Abstract

The primary purpose of the current study is to measure the impact of neighborhood factors on fear of (1) property crime and (2) violent crime among local citizens. Also, the perceived risk of violent and property victimization on fear of property crime and violent crime is considered. Data for this study were gathered through a citizen survey and field interviews about crime and criminal justice carried out one local police department in a northwestern state, 2007. Based on the findings of this study, results of prior research will be discussed.
