An Intersectional Analysis of Social Ties and Stability

Abstract

A wide range of academic disciplines, including criminology, are beginning to acknowledge the utility of social ties as an intervention in justice-involvement, stress, and health among other social problems. Additionally, the extant literature conveys that social ties are uniquely impactful among black communities and women. Thus, the researcher would like to use an intersectional approach to evaluate the value of social ties in the life course of fragile families. Associations between respondent attributes and measures of stability and social ties will be explored. The researcher expects to see meaningful differences across race/ethnicity and gender categories.
