Thu, Nov 16, 12:30 to 1:50pm, Marriott, Franklin 12, 4th Floor

Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

The evaluation of the Honest Opportunity Probation with Enforcement (HOPE) Demonstration Field Experiment collected extensive information on the experiences of the 1,504 individuals who were randomly assigned to HOPE or to probation as usual (PAU). This information came from interviews with probationers and those administering the HOPE programs in four sites, as well as from extensive data collection that documented the events (violations, sanctions, arrests) and temporal lived experience (community, residential drug treatment, jail, and prison) of those on HOPE and PAU. These presentations focus on the experiences of those on probation and the lessons learned by those administering HOPE.
