New Applications of General Strain Theory

Abstract
The papers in this session include several novel applications of general strain theory. One paper utilizes general strain theory to explain individual involvement in animal abuse and tests some argument from Agnew’s (1998) integrated theory of the causes of animal abuse. Other papers evaluate the prospects of including into the theoretical framework of general strain theory previously unexplored neighborhood characteristics such as collective self-control and interdependency and various properties of social networks (e.g., density, integration etc.).
