Abstract

The Bureau of Justice Assistance sponsors the Smart Supervision grant program which funds state and/or local governments and non-profits to demonstrate innovative and evidence-based supervision efforts, and supports research-practitioner partnerships. The papers will focus on the organizational development aspect of the grant programs, with an emphasis on redefining goals, testing new innovations, and evaluating the outcomes. Grantees--Hidalgo County Community Supervision & Corrections Department, Hidalgo, Texas, State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division, Philadelphia Adult Probation and Parole, Philadelphia, PA, and New York City Department of Probation, New York—will present how their research partnership is working and the impact on their program design. The session will highlight implementation and the processes used to implement the innovation.
