Session Submission Summary

Evaluation Research Through Community Based Practices

Wed, Nov 15, 2:00 to 3:20pm, Marriott, Room 406, 4th Floor

Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel

Abstract

The papers presented in this panel address the experiences of faculty researchers engaging in community based research. Specifically, the collective experiences of the presenters in this panel illustrate the various areas in the criminal justice system where community based research can occur and become an effective tool for change to policies, programs, and processes. It should also be noted that the majority of these evaluation research projects occur in primarily rural communities, which provides some additional challenges when involving community members, offenders, and practitioners in the research process.
