Abstract

With dramatic increases in the correctional cost and incarceration rates during the first decade of the current century, the focus of criminal justice systems across the country has been multi-fold. Specifically, states and the federal government have centered efforts on reducing recidivism, increasing community safety, and creating a new class of productive members of society, all while dramatically reducing criminal justice costs. One of the main outgrowths of this focus has been a national movement around reentry. The presentations on this panel focus on presenting data and challenges from reentry programs implemented across the U.S. and its territories. Presentation 1 focuses on easing the process of reentry through the use of Effective Practices in Community Support for Influencers (EPICS-I), an evidence-informed approach. Presentation 2 explores the implementation of an Adult Reentry Court using evidence-based practices in Guam. Presentation 3 describes implementation and preliminary data from a collaborative reentry program in New England. Lastly, presentation 4 details challenges and effective collaborative strategies in researcher-practitioner reentry partnerships.
