Session Submission Type: Roundtable Session
The FBI has announced its intention to transition the UCR Program to a NIBRS-only data collection by January 1,2021. NIBRS, the National Incident-Based Reporting Program, provides much richer detail on incidents, offenses, offenders and victims than the summary UCR program. Researchers should be aware of how to take advantage of this transition in the coming years. This session will discuss current initiatives being undertaken as part of the transition, and resources available from the Justice Research and Statistics Association and others for researchers who would like to utilize NIBRS data.
