Utilizing the data from the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, the current project assesses the fears and challenges expressed among juvenile offenders returning to the community from residential programs from across the state. The goal is examine the differences in perceived challenges and fears among juvenile offenders across demographic and criminal history domains as well as examine the relationship between those perceptions and subsequent delinquency. The final objective is to present the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and direct-service providers, vital information in order to better address these needs, fears, and challenges, and enhance the motivation to change among the 1,000+ youth under the state’s supervision each day.
