Internalizing and externalizing behaviors can have negative consequences throughout the life of an individual. Internalizing behaviors refer to inward emotional responses, and externalizing behaviors are more outward reflections of emotions. The current study examines the etiology of internalizing and externalizing behaviors in a sample of youth referred to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (FDJJ). These results can have implications in the treatment and understanding of these behaviors in delinquent youth.
