Between 2007 and 2016, stops by Albany police declined 62 percent, but the decline was not uniform across individual officers. Our inquiry concerns the factors that account for this individual variation cross-sectionally and longitudinally. We apply group-based trajectory modeling to identify a parsimonious set of trends, and analyze the factors associated with group membership, including officers’ characteristics – length of service, race, sex – and occupational outlooks.
