Scaling up: Implementing a Translational Suite in a Large Urban Setting

Wed, Nov 14, 9:30 to 10:50am, Marriott, A705, Atrium Level

Abstract

This presentation will discuss the implementation of the RNR Simulation Tool in an urban east coast jurisdiction aiming to understand the available community services and resources for justice-involved individuals with the goal of utilizing community resources to reduce the jail population. To achieve this, the RNR Program Tool for Adults was administered to community and jail programs across the jurisdiction both in-person and through webinars. The RNR Program Tool for Adults is a web-based instrument that 1) classifies programs based on the behavior targeted into six program groupings, 2) identifies how programs target risk level and criminogenic needs, and 3) assesses programs based on their implementation and use of evidence-based practices. The Tool provides evidence-based feedback specific to programs’ responses in the domain areas of Risk, Need, Responsivity, Implementation, Dosage, and Restrictiveness. This jurisdiction’s goal is to use this information to determine what community resources are available, which resources are needed, and which existing resources have the capacity to improve outcomes. This presentation will discuss the methods used to conduct this study as well as a discussion of the results.
