Accountability and Power: The Unrealized Potential of Critical Criminology

Abstract

Dr. DeKeseredy has been active in the Division on Critical Criminology and Social Justice for over 35 years and has seen the DCCSJ grow from primarily male dominated to formally allying with feminist and intersectional goals. It has not been a smooth process. Dr. DeKeseredy will outline the importance that being accountable to the harms done as a necessary step in documenting the truth, the impact, and the need for remedies. Dr. DeKeseredy will pose multiple questions that help frame how colleagues can move forward towards a more peaceful and supportive academic field.
