This study examines the 40-year trends in violence against police officers using the Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted (LEOKA) data. Specific attention is given to the geographic locations of assaults on police officers, seasonality of these occurrences, and changes to police training and equipment. The analysis seeks to determine what role environmental and internal police factors play in officer safety.
