Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
Almost 1.5 million people are incarcerated in state and federal prisons in the United States and an overwhelming majority of inmates eventually return to their communities. Therefore, prison culture, social support, victimization, physical health, self-control, and their willingness to engage in research are important to evaluate because of the direct and indirect implications for misconduct and later, recidivism. The research in this panel relies on longitudinal data from the LoneStar Project, the Study of Trajectories, Associations, and Reentry among 802 prison inmates preparing for release in Texas. Overall findings and implications of the LoneStar Project will be discussed.
