Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s), Office of Justice Programs (OJP) provides innovative leadership to federal, state, local, and tribal justice systems, by disseminating state-of-the art knowledge and practices across America, and providing grants for the implementation of these crime-fighting strategies. Within OJP, two components work together to advance juvenile justice in the United States. These are the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) and the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). OJJDP provides national leadership, coordination, and resources to prevent and respond to juvenile delinquency and victimization and to improve the juvenile justice system. NIJ applies science to develop new knowledge and tools to advance criminal justice policy and practice including juvenile justice policy and practice. This panel will discuss relevant juvenile justice research activities undertaken by both agencies.
