The multi-college Bystander Efficacy Evaluation (McBEE) Mentoring Community paired senior violence prevention scholars (mentors) with junior scholars (fellows) to encourage networking, mentorship, and collaboration in research surrounding violence against women. Fellows and mentors were paired based on similar research interests and placed into “hives” comprised of roughly three to four fellows and one mentor. Fellows from two “hives” will share their experiences from on-going participation in this mentoring community. Discussion will focus on the effects of participation on personal and professional growth, such as suggestions for time management and a focus on research activities, extending and diversifying collaborative networks, support for original data collection efforts, guidance on grant activities, and self-care in the world of academia and scholarship.
