Cybercriminal Profiling: A Cross-Sectional Study in Colombian Prisons

Wed, Nov 13, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Salon 13, Lower B2 Level

Abstract

Cybersecurity threats are diverse and have multiple attack vectors which increase victimization rates in cyberspace. Cyber-attacks affect technological infrastructure, citizen lives, or both depending on the kind of attack or cyber-offense level. This sundry environment does not allow cybersecurity teams to focus on specific strategies or on the contrary, encourages teams to invest a lot of resources in digital security without knowledge of the investment’s efficiency. This study aims to build comprehensive cybersecurity strategies by profiling ten cybercriminal personalities. Data collected from the Colombian prison system was analyzed in addition to the twelve cybercriminal profile model from Kennedy and Shoemaker.
