The Evolution of Metaverse: Its Challenges and Innovative Approach to Youth Against Sexual Violence

Abstract

The Metaverse concept has evolved one step further than virtual reality (VR), a cutting-edge technology that enables people to experience real-world experiences in a virtual world. With the development of Metaverse technology, cybercrimes such as online prostitution, sexual violence, and child sexual exploitations are expected to increase rapidly in the Metaverse platforms. The purpose of this study is to diagnose potential legal issues associated with sexual violence and aims to minimize the cybercrime threats that can occur in the Metaverse space where the rapidly evolving digital system, virtual-physical infrastructure, and new virtual technology are applied. The main focus is on minimizing the potential cybercrime risks of Metaverse by enhancing cybercrime investigation capabilities and public safety awareness training. Furthermore, this study discusses detailed recommendations for building trust between the government and citizens required in the digital age.
