The Urban Institute observed program activities, spoke with program participants, and conducted over 100 interviews with practitioners of 14 youth group, gang, and gun violence intervention programs across the country. This presentation focuses on two areas of practice that emerged as particularly important to sustaining effective antiviolence work: defining the relationship between law enforcement and community violence interventions (CVIs), and providing support to antiviolence professionals in the face of the trauma and stress associated with their work.
