The Bureau of Justice Statistics National Corrections Reporting Program (NCRP) is a unique resource for anyone who wants to study the nation’s correctional system and its impact on individuals, families, and communities. Individual-level data linked across years are available for downloading from the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data and BJS has also recently released an easy to use web tool for creating aggregate tabulations from the NCRP data. This presentation will discuss what data are available in the NCRP, how these data have been used to inform correctional policy discussions, and future potential uses.
