The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) collects information from students ages 12 through 18 about school-related victimization along with students’ experiences and perceptions of crime and safety at school through the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) and its supplement on school crime. To capture shifts between in-person and remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, BJS, in collaboration with the National Center for Education Statistics modified the School Crime Supplement (SCS) instrument. This presentation will offer an overview of the SCS and changes made in response COVID-19. Additionally, statistics collected on school crime from the NCVS during this period will be presented.
