Psychopathy and Sexual Sensation Seeking: the Importance of the Etiology of Psychopathy

Thu, Nov 17, 6:30 to 8:00pm, Atrium Ballroom, Atrium Level

Abstract

Although it is well known that people high in psychopathy tend to be more promiscuous, to have an unrestrained sociosexuality and a greater number of sexual partners, to engage in more risky sexual practices, and to use sexual coercion more frequently than non-psychopathic individuals, the relationship between the etiology of psychopathy and sexual behaviours remains unclear. In this study, we investigated sexual sensation seeking as related to the primary/secondary taxonomy of the condition.
