Prior literature on human trafficking specialty courts have typically examined court prevalence, effectiveness, and adolescent populations. However, the examination of adult women involved in human trafficking courts is lacking. This current study will examine two human trafficking specialty courts in Midwestern state. Using a mixed methods design, this study aims to understand the characteristics of the women involved in human trafficking specialty courts and the pathways that led them to be involved in human trafficking. The findings of the current study will further our understanding of women human trafficking victims, and their unique experiences. The current study will have implications on the treatment and services of women involved in these human trafficking courts.
