We will describe the need for specific departments dedicated to the study of victimization. We will cover our curriculum and course offerings that are distinct from criminal justice/sociology. We will discuss the unique experiences of our students and the need for trauma-informed and survivor-centered teaching. Finally, we will present our community engagement and the impact of our department to help those who experience victimization in our local community and beyond.
