This presentation will review an alternative approach that provides a flexible, problem-specific focus that can help communities and schools organize for action to prevent violence, while providing researchers with a means to study the violence prevention process and outcomes produced. The ReSOLV model aims to create more effective and equitable solutions that are specific to each community's unique context, while providing a unified approach that any community can use to organize, manage, and assess the way they are working to address school safety and community violence prevention priorities. Researchers and practitioners can use the model to document the policy process and assess the effectiveness of the prevention policymaking process. External factors, such as the pandemic, are also captured in the ReSOLV model allowing communities to understand, explain, and navigate the problem-solving process in a holistic and transparent manner that can build community trust and support a more complete cost-benefit analysis of decisions.
