What We Know About Comparative Studies of Desistance?

Abstract

The paper will report on the existing studies which provide insights into desistance and which have adopted a comparative perspective. While there are very few studies which have explored desistance from a comparative angle, those that exist are able to tell us something about the ways in which different societies are able to assist or block processes of reform.
