Using a mixed-method approach, this study examines the utilization of forensic techniques by law enforcement officers in combating human trafficking. Despite technological advancements in forensics such as DNA analysis, fingerprint analysis, digital forensics, and forensic interviewing, it is unclear how extensively these techniques are used by law enforcement officers in human trafficking investigations, and whether law enforcement officers have received adequate training for the use of forensic technology. Human trafficking is a widespread global crime that exploits millions of individuals, primarily for labor or sexual exploitation. Effectively combating human trafficking requires identifying perpetrators, rescuing victims, and ensuring justice. Forensic techniques play a crucial role in providing essential evidence to support investigations and prosecutions. The study utilizes anonymous surveys to gather information on the use of forensics in identifying victims, gathering evidence, and prosecuting offenders of human trafficking. By investigating the various forensic methods employed in human trafficking investigations and addressing the challenges associated with their use, including evidence acquisition and preservation difficulties, complex victim identification processes, and the need for specialized training, this study aims to shed light on the current state of forensic utilization in combating human trafficking investigations.
