Building upon Garner, et al., 2024 description of the selection process of the 78 macro level studies, this presentation focuses on macro-level cross-sectional studies that seek to explain the relationship between variations in social conditions, agency policies and practices, and the frequency of police homicides. The presentation summarizes the extent to which the available research does and does not support the various hypotheses about the relationship of social conditions and agency policies and practices on the frequency of police homicides and whether these relationships vary by the sources of data, levels of aggregation or the race of the homicide victims.
