Based on the drug abuse treatment law enacted in 1999 in Taiwan, several aspects of treatment programs including law education, counseling services, vocational training courses, physical activities, career counseling services/job market orientation, and visitor contacts should be offered by the facility to facilitate drug abusers successfully reentering society in a drug-free lifestyle. While drug abuser treatment centers have been established for approximately 20 years in Taiwan, very limited empirical research has been conducted to evaluate how those treatment programs impact the levels of self-effectiveness of abstinence among those drug abusers after release. Using data from 500 respondents collected from three drug abuser treatment centers and two female drug abuser treatment units affiliated with two women's prisons at the end of 2023, this study would like to explore how those treatment programs and what treatment programs impact the levels of self-effectiveness among those sampled drug abusers. Some unique findings are worthwhile to present in this upcoming annual meeting of ACS held at San Francisco, California.
