Racism and Pornography in the Global South: Sexual Portrayals of Brazilian Women

Abstract

Critical criminologists have devoted much time and effort to critiquing racism across various media, but they have not been fleet of foot in identifying racism in pornography, especially hurtful sexual imagery generated in the Global South. Using Brazil as a case study, the main ojbjective of this paper is to demonstrate how Brazilian women are both sexualized and dehumanized in ways distinct from other ethnic groups.
