Abstract

Cryptocurrencies have dramatically changed the financial markets since 2000 with their elusive nature, anonymity, and limited government monitoring. Their exceptionally high value makes them attractive to criminal activities, including money laundering, trade of illicit goods, and fraud. The paper will provide crypto-crime trends, prosecutions, and regulations based on a systematic review of cases for the last decade and addresses the policy gaps.
