Numerous studies have explored domestic violence from a broad perspective, examining factors such as mental health, alcohol, and substance abuse. However, there has been limited research on the lethality of domestic violence incidents. Aligned with Agnew's General Strain Theory (GST), which asserts that experiences of strain or stress can lead to negative emotions and ultimately to criminal/deviant behavior, this research seeks to investigate whether relationship dissolution contributes to an increased likelihood of mental health challenges and fatal domestic violence encounters. This study aims to provide valuable insights into the development of programs and practices designed to assist those who are facing challenges related to relationship dissolution.
