As part of the Prison Research Innovation Network (PRIN) Project, a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology was implemented in Delaware. The PAR team consisted of both inmate and staff research committees tasked with identifying issues and assisting in the implementation of innovations to address them. The following analysis examines a cohort of formerly incarcerated individuals who served on the inmate research committee. This presentation aims to highlight the transformative potential of research education within prisons. The presentation brings forth the voices of formerly incarcerated individuals by sharing examples of how they have developed and utilized skills gained through the PRIN/PAR project to secure employment, pursue further education, advocate for criminal justice reform, and contribute positively to their communities. The presentation will demonstrate the significance of continued support and resources for individuals inside prison seeking to build a meaningful life beyond incarceration.
