The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) is the custodian of the ICCS and primarily responsible for the global data collection on crime trends and the operations of criminal justice systems. As a natural extension to this work, the UNODC has recently developed guidelines for countries focusing on the collection, production, and dissemination of high-quality administrative data for statistical purposes. The guidelines aim to foster the production of interoperable administrative data, extract more statistical value from the data, and improve the operational performance of criminal justice institutions by providing policy-relevant insights. This presentation will highlight the key elements required for the improved governance of administrative data and discuss institution-specific guidelines.
