This presentation highlights findings on financial fraud victimization committed against adults age 60 or older using data from the 2017 NCVS Supplemental Fraud Survey. Older adults have unique risk factors and are at increased risk for financial fraud victimization compared to younger adults. However, empirical research to support this has been mixed. This presentation looks at the experiences of fraud victimization of older and younger adults. It will also discuss demographic characteristics of older adults who were victims of financial fraud, types of financial fraud experienced, and responses to victimization.
