Using a series of semi-structured interviews with police officers from across the United States, the study explores why some police officers believe they were socially undermined. The police officers share their experiences of being socially undermined and offer reasons as to why they may have been a target. Using narratives of officers' personal experiences of being victimized, the findings offer ways to understand the causes of social undermining and how officers may be able to be aware of potential situations that may lead to undermining. Policy implications are also presented for officers and departments.
