A substantial body of literature on perceptions of police has been centered on understanding adults’ attitudes and opinions of law enforcement. However, adolescent perceptions of police have not been given equivalent attention. Therefore, this literature review highlights the perceptions of Black adolescents toward police through the lens of Black children’s hyper-Blackness in school and juvenile justice outcomes. In other words, it brings attention to the anti-Blackness Black children endure along with their various experiences with police across gender. In addition, this presentation will discuss perceptions of SROs about procedural justice, school safety, and school outcomes.
