An Exploration of Standards of Care for Anti-Trafficking Service Provision

Fri, Nov 15, 8:00 to 9:20am, Salon 5 - Lower B2 Level

Abstract

Trafficking-specific care standards are now being used and developed in countries and communities around the world, allowing a unique opportunity to explore standards in different stages of implementation. These standards vary in terms of purpose and scope; who is invited to participate in their development; what funding is allocated to create and implement standards; and what kind of self-assessment, transparency, and evaluation mechanisms exist to help understand their impact and efficacy. Building on her experiences as a Fulbright Global Scholar conducting a policy analysis of anti-trafficking standards of care in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the US, the presenter will provide an overview of the current landscape of care standards in these three countries and ask key questions about the objectives, process, and format of standards of care to aid stakeholders interested in creating or implementing such standards to better understand the opportunities and limitations.
