Previous research has examined individuals' contact with the police and its impact on perceptions of the police. However, most citizens have limited experience of direct interactions with the police, and there needs to be more research examining police confidence using the media as a mediating factor, particularly in Asia. Therefore, this study attempts to fill this gap by using media exposure as a mediate variable to confirm the impact of different forms of news and media on public trust in the police in Taiwan. Policy implications of this observation are discussed as well.
