Research has demonstrated a causal link between early victimization and later offending among female populations. This link, although significant across diverse contexts, has been identified primarily within apolitical samples. This study explores whether convicted female extremists report a history of victimization and abuse that is similar to their apolitical counterparts. Using case study analysis, the authors determine that female extremists have not experienced victimization to the degree found in apolitical samples. The results emphasize the need to confirm the appropriateness of applying apolitical findings to political populations.
