Workplace Violence Against Non-Medical Healthcare Workers: Insights from a National Survey of Healthcare Chaplains

Sat, Nov 16, 9:30 to 10:50am, Foothill A - 2nd Level

Abstract

Recent discourse regarding violence against healthcare workers has highlighted the pervasiveness and profound impact of these experiences and prompted new calls to address this ongoing issue. While much of the research thus far has focused on the experiences of medical personnel, the experiences of patient-facing, non-medical personnel remain largely unstudied. The current paper presents findings from a national survey of professional chaplains, shedding light on the experiences of workplace violence in healthcare settings against non-medical personnel, and underscoring the need to examine the experiences of all workers, not just medical staff
