Drawing on five years of police records, satellite imagery of illumination levels, past weather records, land use and socio-economic indicators our study explores how changes in lighting influence the incidence of outdoor rapes in Stockholm, Sweden. We employ Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and a random forest prediction model to assess how effectively lighting predicts outdoor rape incidents, controlling for weather, land use, and socio-economic conditions. The presentation concludes by examining the findings and proposing directions for future research.
