Police Education and Training Requirements: A Multi-National Comparison

Abstract

The current research is a multi-national comparison of police educational and training requirements. We identify police educational requirements in a sample of North American, European, and Asian countries, with the goal of distinguishing between university- and vocation-based requirements. Findings underscore a need for content- rather than quantity-based examinations of police training efforts to better facilitate their cross-national comparison.
