Implementation Science to Advance Community Corrections

Thu, Nov 14, 3:30 to 4:50pm, Juniper - B2 Level

Abstract

Best guesses are that about 14% of any given evidence-based practice reflects the research findings, the other features are a combination of adaptive behavior on the part of community corrections and/or treatment agencies to shape the evidence to align with existing resources, staffing, and time in program features. Addressing this fidelity problem is critical to achieve the desired outcomes of reduced recidivism and improvements in program participation. The Coordination and Translation Center is focusing on this fidelity problem through the development of translational products that help users understand the key components and fidelity issues. The presentation will describe the community participation process that is used to create the products, discuss how quality improvement processes are embedded in the dissemination efforts, and highlight how engagement of the stakeholders affects the products. Lessons learned about effective translational and dissemination efforts will be shared.
