Existing research indicates that community-oriented policing builds public trust and enhances the legitimacy of law enforcement but its efficacy in reducing crime or disorder remains unclear. To develop effective community-oriented policing strategies that prevents crime and disorder, further investigation is necessary. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of community-oriented policing on crime and disorder prevention, crime displacement, and diffusion of benefits. This analysis uses a pilot study on the use of community volunteers for crash prevention in Utah as a basis for analysis. The findings will contribute new perspectives and methodologies for more effective policing strategies.
