In recent years, cyber-attacks of United States targets have increased, including against law enforcement agencies. Recognizing the value of data that such agencies possess thus making them inviting targets for malicious actors, this study examines the readiness of law enforcement agencies in seven states. Survey responses on cyberinfrastructure, staffing, and the adoption of cybersecurity best practices are described. Current needs are presented as prioritized by agency leaders. Data are analyzed with correlational and predictive statistics. The findings inform assessment efforts to guide agency priorities when resources and access to the necessary cyber personnel are limited toward resilient rural law enforcement cybersecurity.
