“Kiki-gaki Map” is an easy-to-use map-making software tool we have developed in our previous studies, designed for assisting citizen-led initiatives toward safety promotion in local neighborhoods. This study aims for enhancing its functions so that it can be used in a variety of languages and in any regions in the world, regardless of the time-zones. In order to achieve these goals, we developed: (1) the capability of switching texts shown in its GUI (graphical user interface), making use of the utility software called QtLinguist, and (2) the capability of adjusting time-zones automatically, by comparing the time recorded in the EXIF field of photographs and the time recorded in the GPS log. Implications of this new enhancement to research and practice will be discussed.
