Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into criminal justice practice is receiving significant attention due to its potential to revolutionize crime prevention strategies. AI leverages advanced algorithms and data analytics to provide proactive solutions to identify patterns, predict criminal activity, and optimize resource allocation. In particular, interest is growing globally in the development and use of artificial intelligence, which can predict the occurrence of crimes. This presentation will introduce the current status of the crime prediction artificial intelligence application in use and projects under development in South Korea. It also scrutinizes the ethical considerations, potential biases, and challenges associated with implementing AI in crime prevention efforts.
