In recent years, reentry efforts have begun to acknowledge the role that housing security plays in determining the success of those who are released from jails and prisons (Duwe, 2012). As a response, some reentry programs and community corrections initiatives have adopted a housing-focused approach, including partnerships with public housing providers and temporary financial assistance for the housing costs required by those recently released. The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess the effects of reentry programs which include housing support on various measures of recidivism and successful reentry. Specifically, this paper presents a comprehensive review of the literature surrounding housing-focused reentry efforts to-date, including analyses of the effects of these efforts. Policy implications for community corrections are discussed.
